Wallingford's history can be traced back to a Saxon burgh, or fortified settlement. In the Burgh to Borough project researchers from universites have joined with large numbers of local inhabitants to study the history and archaeology of this fascinating town. This is a shining example of how a town can delve into tis own history in meaningful and effective way and makes for a fascinating talk.
Judy Dewey is curator of Wallingford Museum and has been heavily involved in the Burgh to Borough project. She is also the author of two self-guided walks around Wallingford.
